John "Jay" Harry Carlson

John Harry Carlson II “Jay”, age 64 of Zimmerman, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Big Spring, Texas on November 9, 1960 to John “Jack” and Carol (Skelly) Carlson.

On February 25, 1984, Jay and Jean Baird were united in marriage. They were blessed with four children, Matthew, Maria, John, Jenny.

Jay dedicated many years of work in medical research and development. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, and the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping. His family and dogs meant the world to him.

Jay was a social butterfly, making friends with everyone he met. His helpfulness and sense of humor will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Carol (Skelly) Carlson; brother, Brad Carlson; grandparents; and father-in-law, John Baird.

Jay is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jean Carlson; children, Matthew (Adrian), Maria (Brandon), John (Lorraine) and Jenny (Chad); granddaughter, Beyla; brothers, Greg (Gayle), Mark; sisters, Kristi (John), Kathy (Keith); and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 26, 2025 at 12:30 PM, with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM, at Church of Saint Andrew, 566 4th St NW, Elk River, MN. Family burial will be held at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Winsted, MN.
